Some examples of consumer services where people are taken advantage of include hidden feesundisclosed fees, penalties, bank charges, insurance charges, credit card charges, and unauthorized charges.  For example when an insurance company does not return your premiums when you sell your house, your car or when you leave the insurance company and they keep the extra premium that should have been returned pro-rata.  Fees or charges to process a purchase or payment that is not disclosed or hidden.

Another example of consumer fraud is False Advertising.  Many states have laws protecting consumers from false advertising.  Usually that involves a claim by a retailer or manufacturer or even a sales representative that the product will perform a certain way but then it turns out that it does not.

Current popular litigation involving false advertising can be seen in iPhone’s Siri product and service.  The lawsuit alleges Siri does not perform as she was advertised.  Follow the updates on iPhone litigation on Twitter at: ClassActionUS
